ADMINISTERING YOUR ASSESSMENT TO STUDENTS
Now that your test is created, decide how you want to administer it to students. You have two options, and directions for both options are listed below:
- Students can take the test online. Students can do this from home, in class with provided technology, or in an on-campus computer lab.
- Students can take the test with paper and pencil using an answer sheet generated in Schoolnet.
Steps to Administer Your Assessment Online:

You may need to distribute login information to your students If you do not have your students' usernames and passwords to access Schoolnet, follow the directions included below:
Student Login Information for PowerSchool

Username: The last 8 Digits of their ID number

Explanation:
All students have a birthday.
Notice that the length of the passwords are different, but the naming convention is the same.
If students cannot Login, please send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
Parent Login Information for PowerSchool
If Parents logged in last year, their account has not changed.
If Parents have never logged into PowerSchool, they will need to receive a letter with their child’s code to register for an account. If parents email you asking for login information, please direct them to send me an email and I can send them their letter via email.

Username: The last 8 Digits of their ID number
Password: MDYYYY
Explanation:
- Some students have ID numbers that are as low as 5-digits and some have ID numbers that are as high as 11-digits.
- For students with an ID number shorter than or equal to 8-Digits, their username is their whole ID number. Example: ID number is 8333709, PowerSchool username is 8333709
- For students with an ID number longer than 8-Digits, their username is the LAST 8-Digits. Example: ID number is 8479762845, PowerSchool username is 79762845
All students have a birthday.
- Passwords are in the form of Month, Day, Year
- However, students DO NOT enter a ZERO for single-digit Months or Days, but will enter the 4-digit year
- Example: Birthday is 03/05/1999, PowerSchool Password is 351999
- Example: Birthday is 04/12/1998, PowerSchool Password is 4121998
- Example: Birthday is 10/26/2000, PowerSchool Password is 10262000

- Students will select the Schoolnet button located on the lower left side of the screen.
- Students will see the assigned assessments in the Take a Test section.
- Students will be asked to provide the Passcode for the assessment. Teachers will need to provide students with the Online Passcode for the assessment. It is given to the teacher during the final steps of the test creation process. If a teacher needs to find the Online Passcode, he/she can look up the assessment in Schoolnet.
- Students will start the testing session. Upon completion, the assessment data is available for teacher review. Teachers can monitor the assessment, if desired, in Schoolnet to see how students are responding.
Steps to Administer a Paper-and-Pencil Assessment:
After creating your assessment, you will need to print your test for students to use.
You will also need to print answer sheets for your students to use.

Good Tips for Printing Answer Sheets:
Legibility of the bar code in the upper corner of the answer sheet is critical for successful scanning; low-quality inkjet printers or thicker papers may diminish the quality of the printed barcode. The following printer settings are suggested:
